The Case for TikTok as a Platform for Businesses

TikTok is a relatively new social media platform where users can share short video clips using mainstream music in order to put together short, but snappy and entertaining content. The platform is literally designed to draw you in to the greatest extent possible, by deploying an algorithm which serves you content that you will enjoy, and therefore keeps you coming back to the app. Tiktok, or Musica.ly which it was originally called, has for a long time been tainted with a young, unprofessional image — as a platform for kids who want to lip sync. However, TikTok has come a long way from that, surpassing a billion active users quicker than any other social media network, establishing it as one of the major social media platforms of our time. Despite this, many businesses are lagging to get on board, despite this being the perfect time to join. Here are three reasons why you should use TikTok as a business:

1. The Reach

The reach which is possible on TikTok is simply unparalleled. You can have zero followers, post a video, and then reach hundreds of thousands of people. This is due tot eh fact that there is still a demand surplus for content on the platform, which basically means that people are consuming more content than what is currently being produced. Therefore, if you are one of the first in your industry to get on TikTok, you can reap huge benefits in terms of reach. For example, I created a TikTok account for one of my clients, and now, a month in we have almost 2 million views in total, which is a staggering number that you would never see on any other platform. Use this newness and demand surplus to your advantage.

2. It is easy to make content

The most popular TikTok videos are only around 8 seconds, meaning that you potentially have to put in way less time than by making a video for YouTube, Facebook or even Instagram. The fact that you can use trending hit songs as well makes it even easier and more fun to come up with creative content ideas which your audience will be sure to love.
